titleOfInvention Production of polycarbonate resin and optical molding therefrom
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled resin excellent in flow and useful for optical moldings, by producing the resin from a dihydric phenol compound by using a specified monofunctional organic compound and a polyfunctional organic compound as a chain terminator and a branching agent, respectively. n CONSTITUTION: A polycarbonate resin is produced from a dihydric phenol by using a monofunctional organic compound of formula I or II as a chain terminator and using an at least trifunctional organic compound having phenolic hydroxyl groups as a branching agent. In the formulae, X is -COCl or -COOH, Y is a direct bond or -COO- and n is 8W30. It is suitable that the viscosity-average MW of the branched end-modified polycarbonate resin is set such that its Q value may be 20×10 -2 cc/sec or below. For this purpose, it is suitable that its viscosity-average MW is 13,000W23,000, preferably 16,000W20,000. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
