titleOfInvention Production of optically active carnitine
abstract PURPOSE: The asymmetric resolution of a specific racemic carnitine acyl derivative is effected by allowing a microorganism capable of asymmetric resolution to act on the racemic isomer to enable industrially advantageous production of the titled compond which is used as an appetite stimulator through a mass production process. n CONSTITUTION: A microorganism capable of asymmetric resolution of racemic carnitine acyl derivative such as Achromobacter parafinoclastas (IFO 12441) is cultured and the culture mixture or its processed product is allowed to act on the racemic isomer to give optically active isomers of carnitine acyl derivative of formula I and/or a carnitine or formula II, respectively. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
