titleOfInvention Method of freezing and melting test
abstract PURPOSE:To perform the test close to actual operations, by supplying water to a test piece such as an inorganic building material, which is coated by a sheet body having excellent water retentivity, and repeating freezing and melting. CONSTITUTION:A test piece 2 is arranged in a low constant temperature chamber, wherein temperature can be changed in the range from a low temperature, e.g., -20 deg.C, to a constant temperature, e.g., +20 deg.C. The outer surface of the test piece 2 is coated by a sheet body 3 such as felt having excellent water retentivity. Water is intermittly supplied 4 to the test piece 2 through the sheet body 3, and the cycle of the low temperature and the constant temperature is repeated. Since the freezing and melting of the test piece are repeated in this way, the test can be performed in the state close to actual use.
