titleOfInvention Impregnation, bonding and sealing of porous material
abstract PURPOSE: To seal and close micropores in a porous material and obtain a product with a high mechanical strength, by impregnating the porous material with an impregnant of a specified composition, followed by polymerization and curing of the impregnant. n CONSTITUTION: A porous material (e.g. porous metal) is impregnated with an impregnant consisting of (A) acrylic ester monomer (e.g. 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, triethylene glycol dimethacrylate or methyl methacrylate), (B) polymerization catalyst and (C) silane coupling agent copolymerizable with (A) and having alkoxyl group (e.g. γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) by vacuum impregnation or pressure impregnation, followed by curing of the impregnant in water at about 80W140°C under normal or high pressure. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
