abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled room temperature-setting, moisture-curing polymer, by copolymerizing vinyl monomers in the presence of a solvent, a polymerization initiator, a chain transfer agent and a water-binding agent under anhydrous conditions. n CONSTITUTION: An alkoxysilyl group-containing vinyl monomer [e.g., γ- (meth)acryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane] is (co)polymerized with, optionally, other copolymerizable vinyl monomers [e.g., methyl (meth)acrylate] in the presence of a solvent (e.g., toluene), a polymerization initiator (e.g., tert-butyl peroxyoctoate) and, optionally, a chain transfer agent (e.g., lauryl mercaptan) and a water-binding agent (e.g., trimethyl orthoformate) under anhydrous conditions to obtain a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing vinyl polymer of a number- average MW of 1,000W30,000. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
