abstract PURPOSE: To provide a film which has lots of uniform, fine protrusions, and excellent slipperiness and is suitable for use as magnetic tape, microfilm and metallized film, by uniformly dispersing specified CaCO 3 in a polyester. n CONSTITUTION: A polyester film wherein 0.01W3wt% CaCO 3 which has an average particle size of 5μ or below and whose weight loss on heating at 500°C is 0.2W5.0wt%, is incorporated in a polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) constituting the film. The film can be prepd. by molding the polyester contg. CaCO 3 dispersed therein into a film by conventional method, stretching it and heat-treating it. The film does not contain coarse, agglomerated particles and has lots of uniform, fine protrusions and hence, it is suitable for use as magnetic tape, microfilm and metallized film, for which the slipperiness and the fineness of surface unevennesses are highly required. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
