abstract PURPOSE: To provide the titled recording medium which is stable and colorless or pale in color, develops reddish black to black when brought into contact with an electron-accepting developer and can retain the initial color tone consistently over a long period of time, containing a specified fluoran derivative as an electron-donating color former. n CONSTITUTION: A 2-(2-hydroxy-4-substd. amino)-benzoylbenzoic acid derivative of formula I (wherein R 1 is propyl, butyl; R 2 is methyl, ethyl) obtd. by reacting an m-substd. aminophenol derivative with phthalic anhydride, is condensed with a 4-hydroxydiphenylamine derivative of formula II (wherein R is H, a 1W4C alkyl; R 3 is H, methyl) to obtain an electron-donating color former composed of a fluoran derivative of formula III. A dispersion obtd. by dispersing a solvent soln. of said color former in a binder, is applied to a support such as paper or a plastic sheet to obtain the titled recording medium. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
