titleOfInvention Purification of tar oil
abstract PURPOSE: Sodium metal is added to tar oil containing impurities such as quinolines and they are heat-treated or the tar oil is distilled in the presence of sodium metal to effect selective hydrogenolysis of sulfur and nitrogen compounds. n CONSTITUTION: A tar oil which contains, as impurities, nitrogen-containing compounds such as quinoline, isoquinoline or indole, preferably boiling at 200W 270°C, is combined with sodium metal and treated with heat or without heat treatment and distilled in the presence sodium metal. After heat treatment, when precipitate is seen, distillation is preferably carried out after separation of it. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
