abstract |
PURPOSE: To provide the titled adhesive capable of forming a joint when used for fortifying the joining area of optical fiber, said joint having high reliability and suffering little lowering in strength even when used at a high temp. or immersed in water, by bonding an organosilane compd. to an olefin polymer. n CONSTITUTION: A modified olefin polymer obtd. by graft-polymerizing (pref. hot- melt grafting method) 0.2W3pts.wt. organosilane compd. such as γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane onto 100pts.wt. olefin polymer such as an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having a Young's modulus of 0.5W10kg/mm 2 and a saturated water absorption of 0.2wt% or below at room temp., is used as an adhesive for joining of optical fiber. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
