PURPOSE:A dentifrice composition for improving shelf stability and especially chopped skin of a dentifrice composition containing benzoic acid or a benzoate as an antiseptic, obtained by adding a specific amount of 2-3C alcohol to the composition. CONSTITUTION:A dentifrice composition is blended with (A) preferably 0.1- 1wt%, especially 0.2-0.8wt% benzoic acid or benzoate, and (B) 0.1-1wt%, preferably 0.2-0.7wt% based on the whole amount of the composition of one or more alcohols selected from ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol, to give a dentifrice composition having high antiseptic ability, improved shelf stability, and good feeling in use. |
