PURPOSE: To provide a flame-retardant composition giving a molded article having improved mechanical strength and remarkably suppressed dripping tendency in combustion, by compounding a crosslinking assistant and a radical generator in the presence of a halogen-containing flame retardant and antimony trioxide, and melting and kneading a polyolefin resin with the above composition. n CONSTITUTION: A composition (100wt%) composed of (A) 0.1W15% crosslinking assistant (e.g. trimethylolpropane triacrylate), (B) 0.005W5%, preferably 0.01W1% radical generator [e.g. 1,3-bis(t-butyl-oxyisopropyl)benzene], (C) 5W60% halogen- containing flame retardant, e.g. an aromatic bromine compound having a melting point of ≥300°C, preferably decabromodiphenyl oxide, (D) 100W10% (based on the component C) antimonyl trioxide, and (E) the remaining part of a polyolefin resin, preferably polypropylene resin, is mixed with a Henschel mixer, etc., and melted and kneaded at 170W300°C, preferably 200W260°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
