abstract | PURPOSE: To measure an amount of bacteria in a short time in a stabilized accuracy, by extracting ATP (adenosinetriphosphoric acid) contained in bacteria, adding a coloring agent to it, detecting luminous energy of emission electrically. n CONSTITUTION: The bacteria-containing sample (e.g., filter sample having adsorbed bacteria) 20 is immersed in the extracted solution 102 such as boiling solution of tris (20mM) EDTA (2mM) at 7.75pH in the extraction cell 24. After a given time is passed, an extracted solution having extracted ATP is sent through the filter 40 to the detection cell 38, the coloring reagent (e.g., luciferin, or luciferase) 104 is added separated to it, emission in the detection cell 38 is outputted as a signal proportional to an amount of emission by the detector 48 for luminous energy consisting of a photoelectron amplifying tube, etc. set neighbor on the bottom of the cell 38, and fed to the display 50 for luminous energy and the display 52 for number of bacteria to show given display. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
