titleOfInvention Production of 2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7- hydroxybenzofuran
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as a raw material of agricultural chemicals, at a relatively low temperature, in high yield, by heating o-methyllyloxyphenol using a metallic acetylacetonate as a catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be produced by reacting o-methallyloxyphenol at 80W200°C, preferably 100W160°C for 0.1W20hours, usually in the absence of solvent or in a solvent such as benzene, in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metallic acetylacetonate. The concrete examples of the above metallic acetylacetonate used as the catalyst are, iron (II) acetylacetonate, iron (III) acetylacetonate, aluminum acetylacetonate, etc., and its amount is 0.01W10mol%, preferably 0.05W5mol% based on 1mol of the o-methallyloxyphenol used as the raw material. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
