titleOfInvention | Production of carbon fiber having high performance |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain carbon fibers, having improved strength, elongation, etc., and useful for reinforcing materials without causing melt sticking between fibers, by applying specific inorganic material powder, e.g. Si oxide, to a precursor fiber bundle for the carbon fibers, and infusibilizing and firing the resultant fiber bundle. n CONSTITUTION: At least one of Si, Al, Ti and B oxides or carbides, preferably silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, titanium oxide or boron carbide, having preferably ≤1μ average particle diameter is applied to a precursor fiber bundle, preferably a fiber bundle of polyacrylonitrile, and the resultant fiber bundle is infusibilized and further fired to give the aimed carbon fibers. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio |
