abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a high-molecular fluoran compound which can develop color upon contact with an acidic substance and is useful as a coupler for a recording medium, by radical-polymerizing a fluoran compound having a (meth)acrylamino group. n CONSTITUTION: A fluoran compound having a (meth)acrylamino group (e.g., 2-acrylamino-6-diethylaminofluoran or 2-acrylamino-3-chloro-6-diethylaminofluoran) is prepared by allowing a reactive compound such as an acid halide or an ester to act upon a fluoran compound having an amino group.
