titleOfInvention Coating composition which can be diluted with water
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the titled coating compsn. excellent in resistance to water and corrosion, drying characteristics, coating performance and stability, prepd. by neutralizing part or the whole of carboxyl groups in a specified polyether urethane-modified alkyd resin. n CONSTITUTION: A polyether urethane-modified alkyd resin having an acid value of below 50 is prepd. by interaction of 2W30wt% (A) polyether urethane diol of the formula (where R 1 , R 3 and R 5 are each H or 1-4C alkyl: R 2 and R 4 are each a 4-20C, pref. 4-15C aliphatic or aromatic divalent group: n, n' and n" are each 2W100, pref. 5W85), 0W60wt% (B) oil or fat and/or fatty acid, (C) a polyhydric alcohol and an organic acid (e.g phtalic acid) in such amts. that the ratio of the number of OH groups to that of carboxyl groups of all the components may be 1.0W1.5 and 0W70wt% (D) unsatd. monomer when the component (B) and the organic acid have unsatd. bonds. Then part or the whole of carboxyl groups of alkyd resin are neutralized with a neutralizer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
