titleOfInvention Production of aromatic dicarboxylic acid glycol ester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material of an aromatic polyester having excellent transparency and color tone, by reacting a bifunctional aromatic carboxylic acid alkyl ester with a glycol in the presence of a quaternary phosphonium halide compound. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be produced by the ester-exchange reaction of at least one kind of bifunctional aromatic carboxylic acid with at least one kind of glycol in the presence of a quaternary phosphonium halide compound of formula (R 1 WR 4 are alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, or substituted aryl; X is Cl, Br or I). The quaternary phosphonium halide compound is e.g. tetrabutyl phosphonium bromide, hexadecyl tributyl phosphonium iodide, etc., and its amount is 0.1W20mm-mol per 1mol of the bifunctional carboxylic acid alkyl ester. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
