abstract |
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R 1 is aryl or heterocyclic group which may have proper substituent group; R 3 is esterified carboxy; R 5a is H, alkyl or oxy-substituted alkyl (the formed carbonyl is protected with a proper protecting group)]. n EXAMPLE: 2-(2-Chlorobenzylidene)-4,4-diethoxyacetoacetic acid ethyl ester. n USE: A synthetic intermediate of the 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative of formula IIhaving vasodilating and hypotensive activities and useful as a drug. n PREPARATION: The objective compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the aldehyde of formula R 1 -CHO with the β-keto acid ester of formula R 5a - COCH 2 -R 3 .
