PURPOSE: The titled resin for lenses excellent in machinability, impact resistance, etc., obtained by copolymerizing a monofunctional monomer selected from aromatic allyl esters with a bifunctional monomer selected from aromatic dicarboxylic acid diallyl esters. n CONSTITUTION: A resin for high-refractive index lenses is prepared by copolymerizing a monofunctional monomer selected from the compounds of formula I (wherein X is O or S, Y is chlorine or bromine, R is H or methyl, m is 0 or 1, and n is 1W5), e.g., allyl 2-chlorobenzoate or furyl ester of 2,3-dichlorothiophenol, with a bifunctional monomer selected from the compounds of formula II (wherein Z is H, chlorine or bromine, R is H or methyl and p is 1W4), e.g., diallyl terephthalate or diallyl tetrabromophthalate, in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator (e.g., benzoyl peroxide). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
