titleOfInvention | Selective permeable membrane and its production |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a semipermeable membrane having excellent resistance to rupture and consolidation by forming an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer into an asymmetrical membrane consisting of homogeneous porous layer and dense layer respectively having a specific pore size. n CONSTITUTION: A titled permeable membrane consists of a porous layer having 0.2W1μ micropores and a dense layer having ≤0.1μ micropores (occupying 50W 90% of the total film thickness). The membrane is obtainable, for example, in the following way: An ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer of 26mol% content of ethylene (99% rate of saponification and about 20,000mol.wt.) is dissolved in a solvent mixture consisting of 60vol% dimethyl imidazolidinone and 40vol% water, whereby 23.3wt% film forming soln. is obtd. Such soln. is coated on a glass plate at a room temp. and is then dipped in water kept at 5°C, whereby a selective permeable membrane having 200μ thickness is obtd. The membrane has the dense layer at 79.4% of the entire film thickness and when it is used in treating 5,000ppm aq. soln. of polyethylene glycol having 20,000 average mol.wt. at 25°C and 2.0kg/cm 2 pressure, the rate of water permeation is 1.45m 3 /m 2 day and the removal rate is 87.5%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
