titleOfInvention Production of polyester for hollow material
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer having improved transparency, generating slightly white powder, by carrying out ester exchange reaction in the presence of a specific catalyst under specified pressure conditions, performing polycondensation reaction in the presence of a Ge compound. n CONSTITUTION: First, (A) a lower alkyl ester of a bifunctional carboxylic acid consisting essentially of terephthalic acid and (B) a glycol consisting essentially of ethylene glycol are subjected to ester exchange reaction in the presence of (C) an organotitanium carboxylate (e.g., titanium acetate, etc.) in an amount corresponding to 1W20 millimole % quantity based on the component A at 1.5W3 atmospheric pressure. The ester exchange product is subjected to polycondensation in the presence of (D) 10W50wt% Ge compound (preferably germanium oxid, etc.) based on the component A, to give the desired polymer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
