abstract PURPOSE:To provide a dandruff-preventing agent containing essential oil or solvent extract of the vegetables selected from cinnamon, clove, thyme, benzoin, oakmoss and vanilla, capable of effectively preventing the dandruff and hair odor, and having high safety. CONSTITUTION:The objective dandruff-preventing agent contains 0.01-1wt% of the essential oil or the solvent extract of a vegetable selected from cinammon, clove, thyme, benzoin, oakmoss and vanilla. Since the agent has high antimicrobial activity against Pityrosporum ovale, it can effectively prevent the dandruff and hair odor caused mainly by the above yeast. The agent is compounded with other arbitrary components, and used in the form of shampoo, hair rinse, hair spray, hair treatment, hair liquid, etc.
