titleOfInvention Manufacture of arsenious acid from solution containing arsenic acid
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain arsenious acid of high purity while effectively utilizing arsenic sulfide by adding arsenic sulfide to an aqueous soln. contg. arsenic acid by one equiv. or more basing on the amount of the contained arsenic acid, bringing them into reaction to produce arsenious acid and sulfur as a simple substance, removing the sulfur by filtration, and concentrating the filtrate. n CONSTITUTION: Arsenic sulfide is added to an aqueous soln. contg. arsenic acid by one equiv. or more basing on the amount of the contained arsenic acid, and they are brought into reaction to produce arsenious acid and sulfur as a simple substance according to reactions represented by equations I , II. The suitable reaction temp. is about 40W95°C, and the reaction time is about 30W60min when the reaction temp. is 70°C. The resulting precipitate contg. the sulfur and impurities such as fulfide is separated by filtration, and the filtrate is concentrated to crystallize arsenious acid. The crystallized arsenious acid is taken out by filtration to obtain the desired arsenious acid. Arsenic sulfide is a by-product produced in a plant for refining a nonferrous metal such as copper, and the treatment of arsenic sulfide causes a serious problem. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
