titleOfInvention Production of thermoplastic resin particle
abstract PURPOSE: To produce uniform fine particles having improved moldability, by dissolving a specific styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer resin, a specific binding monomer and a polymerization catalyst in a vinyl aromatic monomer, polymerizing the resultant solution in the suspended state, and adding a foaming agent thereto. n CONSTITUTION: A styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer resin, containing 15W 30wt% maleic anhydride, and having ≥500 average polymerization degree and a compound expressed by the formula RX (X is a functional group reactive with dicarbonyloxo group; R is an aliphatic residue having one double bond), e.g. glycidyl methacrylate, are dissolved in an vinyl aromatic monomer, and the resultant solution is suspended in an aqueous medium and reacted in the presence of a polymerization catalyst. A foaming agent is added thereto during or after the polymerization to produce the aimed thermoplastic resin particles containing 2W10wt% maleic anhydride component. The compound of the formula RX is used in a amount of 0.1W20mol%, preferably 0.2W10mol% based on the maleic anhydride component in the copolymer resin. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
