titleOfInvention Preparation of arsenious acid
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare high-purity arsenious acid, economically, in high yield, by leaching cement copper with dilute sulfuric acid, removing copper from the leachate with arsenic sulfide, and introducing sulfur dioxide gas into the liquid thereby crystallizing the arsenic existing in the leachate as arsenious acid. n CONSTITUTION: Cement copper obtained by the electrolytic refining in the smelting process of an As-containing copper concentrate, is leached with a sulfuric acid solution having low concentration, i.e. ≤10g/l. The leachate is added and mixed with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide and As 2 S 3 (obtained by fixing As in the exhaust gas in the smelting of an As-containing copper concentrate in the form of sulfide, and converting the sulfide to a slurry) to effect the reaction of formula. Copper sulfate in the leachate is precipitated as copper sulfide, which is separated and removed. The leachate after the copper removal treatment is introduced with sulfur dioxide gas. Arsenic in the leachate is crystallized as the objective arsenious acid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
