titleOfInvention | Production of ferrovanadium |
abstract | PURPOSE: To produce economically ferrovanadium at a high yield by using the lower oxide of vanadium obtd. by thermal decomposition of ammonium meta- vanadate in a hermetic state as a raw material for a vanadium component in performing thermit reaction. n CONSTITUTION: The ammonium meta-vanadate obtd. in the process of recovering vanadium from a vanadium resource is heated by using an open-hearth furnace or the like in a substantial hermetic state wherein air is shut off to decompose thermally the ammonium meta-vanadate and to reduce the same by the H 2 generated by the decomposition of ammonia, thereby yielding a lower oxide of vanadium. Such lower oxide is used at least a part of a raw material for vanadium and a thermit reaction is effected together with a raw material for an iron component in the presence of aluminum particles, whereby the reaction is progressed gently and the ferrovanadium having good quality is obtd. at the decreased loss by scattering of the metal and at the decreased unit of the aluminum. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
