titleOfInvention Secondary battery
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a titanium disulfide-lithium secondary battery which has an excellent charge-and-discharge characteristic and in which any separation of a negative active material and any internal short circuits are prevented by providing a semi-solid electrolyte in the periphery of the negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:After lithium sheets are pressed and affixed to an expanded titanium metal 2, the lithium sheets are enwrapped in a polypropylene separator 3, thereby making a positive electrode 1. Then after a lithium sheet 4 is pressed and affixed to an expanded titanium metal 5, the lithium sheet 4 is enwrapped in a semi-solid electrolyte 6 before it is enwrapped in a separator 3, thereby making a negative electrode. Next, the positive electrode 1, the negative electrode 4 and 1mol/l lithium perchlorate electrolyte solution in propylene carbonate 7 are put in a glass case 8. After that, the glass case 8 is sealed with a rubber stopper after degassing is performed, thereby constituting a battery. The above semi-solid electrolyte 6 is prepared by adding 20pts.wt. of polymethyl methacrylate powder with a polymerization degree of about 7,000 to 1mol/l lithium perchlorate solution in propylene carbonate, then gelling the mixture by heating it at about 90 deg.C.
