abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst for preparing p-xylene, by using an oxide of a Group IIa metal of the Periodic Table, such as beryllium or magnesium, and borosilicic acid. n CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution A containing boric acid, conc. sulfuric acid and tetrapropylammonium bromide, an aqueous solution B consisting of silicon dioxide, sodium oxide and water and an aqueous sodium chloride solution C are separately prepared. Solutions A, B are dripped into solution C and the resulting mixture is heated in an autoclave. Thereafter, the reaction mixture is cooled, washed, dried and baked to obtain crystalline sodium borate, which is, in turn, treated with an aqueous ammonium nitrate solution to obtain ammonium borosilicate. A binder such as alumina sol is added to said borosilicate and the obtained mixture is molded. In the net step, an oxide of a Group IIa metal and borosilicic acid are mixed in a wt. ratio of 0.05W50:100 and alumina sol is added to the resulting mixture as a binder to perform molding. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
