titleOfInvention 4-(trans-4'-(trans-4"-alkylcyclohexyl)cyclohexyl)phenyl 4-cyanobenzoate
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula (R is H or 1W10C alkyl). n EXAMPLE: 4-[ trans-4'-( trans-4"-propylcyclohexyl )-cyclohexyl ]phenyl 4-cyanobenzoate. n USE: A liquid crystal composition exhibiting liquid crystal phase even at a high temperature, having positive dielectric anisotropy, and stable to moisture, light, heat, air, etc. n PROCESS: The compound of formula can be prepared by (1) reacting 4-bromoanisole with metallic magnesium, (2) reacting the product with 4-(trans-4'-alkylcyclohexyl)cyclohexanone, (3) dehydrating by using potassium bisulfate as a catalyst, (4), reducing and demethylating the dehydration product, and (5) reacting with 4-cyanobenzoyl chloride. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
