| abstract | PURPOSE: A base keeping pH in a fixed range, having improved solubility of drug and long-term shelf stability, comprising a carboxyvinyl polymer, propylene carbonate, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol and ethyl alcohol as essential components. n CONSTITUTION: A gel ointment base containing 0.5W5wt% carboxyvinyl polymer based on the weight of the base as a standard, 5W50wt% propylene carbonate, 1W40wt% propylene glycol and 10W60wt% ethylene alcohol as essential components, having 4W10pH. The base may containing isopropyl adipate in the case of necessity to promote penetration of the main drug to the skin.
