titleOfInvention Gel ointment base
abstract PURPOSE: A base keeping pH in a fixed range, having improved solubility of drug and long-term shelf stability, comprising a carboxyvinyl polymer, propylene carbonate, propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol and ethyl alcohol as essential components. n CONSTITUTION: A gel ointment base containing 0.5W5wt% carboxyvinyl polymer based on the weight of the base as a standard, 5W50wt% propylene carbonate, 1W40wt% propylene glycol and 10W60wt% ethylene alcohol as essential components, having 4W10pH. The base may containing isopropyl adipate in the case of necessity to promote penetration of the main drug to the skin. The gel base has improved solubility of slightly soluble drug such as indomethacin, etc. It will not precipitate the main drug even if it is stored for a long period at a cold place, and provides no unpleasant feeling during use. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
