titleOfInvention Manufacture of ultrafine powder of zro2
abstract PURPOSE: To manufacture easily ultrafine powder of ZrO 2 contg. Y 2 O 3 by heating an alkaline aqueous soln. contg. zirconium carbonate and a proper percentage of yttrium carbonate under pressure, treating the resulting reaction product with an org. solvent to remove water, and carrying out drying. n CONSTITUTION: An alkaline aqueous soln. contg. Zirconium carbonate and 2W 3.5mol% yttrium carbonate or yttrium oxide basing on the amount of zirconium carbonate or a slightly acidic or alkaline soln. prepared by suspending or partially dissolving zirconium hydroxide and/or yttrium hydroxide in said aqueous soln. is reacted in an autoclave at ≥130°C under ≥2kg/cm 2 gauge pressure to form a powdered mixture of zirconium oxide with yttrium oxide. The powder is separated from the mother liquor, an org. solvent having ≥about 110°C b.p. is added to the powder, and water is removed by sufficient distillation under heating. The solvent is then separated, and the residue is dried to obtain ultrafine powder of a zirconium oxide-yttrium oxide mixture. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
