abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled composition suitable for the exterior semiconducting layer of a power cable for high voltage-use insulated with crosslinked polyethylene, by compounding a mixture of an ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester copolymer and a propylene/α-olefin copolymer with electrically conductive carbon black. n CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by compounding (A) an olefin polymer mixture composed of (i) ≤80pts.wt., especially 50W80pts.wt. of an ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester copolymer having an unsaturated carboxylic acid ester content of ≥3mol%, especially ≥5mol% and (ii) ≥20pts.wt. of a random copolymer of propylene and a ≥4C α-olefin and having a propylene content of 50W87mol%, especially 60W85mol%, with (B) an electrically conductive carbon black in an amount to afford a composition having a specific volume resistance of 10 0 W10 6 Ω.cm.
