titleOfInvention Extraction of gastrointestinal hormone
abstract PURPOSE: To extract gastrointestinal hormone in high yield and purity, at a specific temperature, from the small intestine of manmmals using dilute actic acid having specific concentration. n CONSTITUTION: The small intestine of mammals (e.g. the upper small intestine including the duodenum, of pig or cattle) is thrown into a 0.2W0.5N acetic acid solution heated at 50W90°C, and stirred for 30W60min to effect the extraction. After the extraction treatment, the solution is cooled to 0W10°C without delay, the insoluble components are removed by filtration, and the objective gastrointestinal hormone (e.g. secretin, cholecystokinin pancreozymin, vasoactive intestinal peptide, etc.) is separated from the extract liquid and purified. n EFFECT: The thermal decomposition and deactivation of the gastrointestinal hormone are prevented by the present extraction method, and the transfer of the hormone to the acetic acid solution can be facilitated. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
