titleOfInvention Production of aromatic polyester polycarbonate
abstract PURPOSE: To produce an arom. polyester polycarbonate having excellent transparency and mechanical properties, by mixing an org. solvent soln. of an arom. polyester polycarbonate oligomer with an aq. alkaline soln. and then carrying out a polycondensation reaction. n CONSTITUTION: A dihydroxydiaryl compd., terephthaloyl chloride and/or isophthaloyl chloride and phosgene are reacted together in the presence of an org. solvent, water and an alkali to obtain an arom. polyester polycarbonate oligomer having, as terminal groups, chloroformate groups, acid chloride groups and hydroxyl groups in a molar ratio represented by relationships I and II. An aq. phase contg. by-product, an alkali metal chloride, is separated. An aq. alkaline soln. in a quantity of 0.05W2 volumes per volume of the org. solvent soln. of the oligomer is added to the resulting org. solvent soln. of the oligomer in the absence of a polymn. catalyst. The pH of the aq. phase is adjusted to 10 or above and mixing is carried out for 5min or longer. A polycondensation reaction is then carried out in the presence of a polymn. catalyst at room temp. for 0.5W5hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
