abstract | PURPOSE: To decrease the water content in aq. coal slurry and to improve fluidity by adding a compd. which is the formaldehyde condensate of the alkylene oxide addition product of phenols and has specific mol. wts. into the aq. coal slurry. n CONSTITUTION: A compd. which is a formaldehyde condensate of the alkylene oxide addition product of phenols and has ≥1,000mol.wts., more preferably 2,000W50,000mol.wts. is incorporated into aq. coal slurry as an additive for said slurry. The polymeric chain of the alkylene oxide is preferably a block copolymer of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide and the weight ratio between propylene oxide and ethylene oxide is preferably 40/60W10/90. If such additive is added to the aq. coal slurry, the concn. of the pulverized coal in the aq. coal slurry is improved by ≥10W50wt%; furthermore, the sepn. by settling of the pulverized coal is prevented and the fluidity is improved. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
