abstract |
PURPOSE: To obtain advantageously the titled compound, by using a specific alkali metal in a molybdenum type catalyst containing thallium by oxidizing isobutylene or/and tert-butyl alcohol in the vapor phase catalytically with molecular oxygen. n CONSTITUTION: In an oxidation of isobutylene and/or tert-butyl alcohol in the vapor phase catalytically with molecular oxygen or a gas containing the molecular oxygen, a catalyst having a composition expressed by the formula (X is K, Rb or/and Ce; aWh are the numbers of the respective elements, and b is 0.1W6; c is 0.5W15; d is 2W12; e is 0W10; f is 0W2; g is 0.05W1.0; h is 0.05W1.0; d+e is 6W12 when a is 12, and i is a value naturally determined depending upon the valences of the respective elements and values of aWh) is used to give the titled compound in sufficiently high yield even in ≥95% conversion of the isobutylene.
