abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound in high purity inexpensively, by treating an oxazolidinone derivative with a microorganism having a stereoselective esterase activity to form the titled optical active compound from the compound. n CONSTITUTION: An oxazolidinone derivative shown by the formula I [X is lower alkyl; Y is (substituted) alkyl, alkenyl, or (substituted) aromatic hydrocarbon group] is treated with a microorganism having a streoselective esterase activity to hydrolyze asymmetrically the compound shown by the formula I and to form an optical active(+)-3-alkyl-substituted-5-hydroxy-methyloxazolidin-2-one shown by the formula II (X is as shown above), or an enzyme obtained from the microorganism, to give a compound shown by the formula II, which is collected, to prepare the compound shown by the formula II in high purity inexpensively. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
