abstract PURPOSE: The titled imparting agent, prepared by kneading a high polymer with a halogenated acenaphthylene (polymer) containing units expressed by a specific formula as constituent units in a specific proportion to give a masterbatch, and having improved flame retardancy and radiation resistance without deteriorating with time. n CONSTITUTION: A flame retardance imparting agent prepared by kneading (A) 30W70wt% high polymer, e.g. ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer, with (B) 70W30wt% halogenated acenaphthylene having units expressed by the formula (X is H, bromine or chlorine; Y is bromine or chlorine; R is a substituent group other than halogen; m is an integer 2W6; n is an integer 0W4; m+n is ≤6) as constituent units or a polymer thereof, e.g. brominated acenaphthylene condensate, uniformly preferably under such temperature conditions as to form a melt of the components (A) and (B) or above in rolls, a Banbury mixer, etc. as early as possible after the preparation of both components (A) and (B). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
