abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a recording medium having superior electromagnetic transducing characteristics, etc. by irradiating electron beams on a magnetic coating material contg. a mixture of a terpolymer consisting of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and vinyl alcohol or maleic acid with urethane resin and a compound having ≥2 (meth)acryloyl groups as a binder. n CONSTITUTION: A magnetic coating material is prepared using a binder consisting of 100pts.wt. mixture of 20W80pts.wt. in total of ≥1 kind of terpolymer with 80W20pts.wt. urethane resin and of 50W400pts.wt. compound having ≥2 (meth)acryloyl groups in one molecule or polymer having said groups. A vinyl chloride vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol terpolymer having 1W15wt% vinyl alcohol content and/or a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-maleic acid terpolymer having 1W10wt% maleic acid content is used as said ≥1 kind of terpolymer. The coating material is applied to a support and cured by irradiating electron beams.
