titleOfInvention Manufacture of composite lens
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the title lens with a simple operation having no foreign matter, no fubble, light weight, scratch resisting property and no double vision of a reflected image, by combining integrally a glass lens and a plastic lens with simultaneous polymerization, using a surface treated glass mold. CONSTITUTION:The mixed solution of a monomer and a polymerization initiator is poured into the mold composed of the two glass molds whose surfaces are treated with a silane coupling agent, and the gasket made of resin. After said materials are polymerized and cured, glass portion is ground and subjected to abrasion. The kind of the glass lens to be used is determined by the kind of the desired composite lens, however, it is preferable that the difference between the reflecting indices of the polymer and that of the glass lens is equal to or less than 0.05mm.. The thickess of the glass mold is preferably uniform and at least 0.5mm. in order to prevent the occurrance of interference color and to keep its transparency. The quality of monomer to be used is also determined by the kind of the desired lens, however, it is preferable that the combination of one kind or more of monomer such as acrylate or diallulphthalate is to be employed.
