titleOfInvention High strength member with low magnetic permeability for apparatus on underwater search ship
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled member with high yield strength, toughness and low magnetic permeability by adding specified percentages of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr and V to Fe and carrying out soln. heat treatment and aging. n CONSTITUTION: A steel material consisting of, by weight, 0.35W0.45% C, ≤1.0% Si, 15W20% Mn, 1W3% Ni, 4W6% Cr, 0.5W1.5% V, inevitable impurities and the balance essentially Fe is prepd. The steel material is subjected to soln. heat treatment by heating to about 1,200°C and water cooling for about 1hr, and it is aged by heating to about 700°C and air cooling for about 3W5hr to obtain a member for an apparatus on an underwater search ship. This member has various characteristics such as ≥about 80kgf/mm 2 yield point at 0.2% permanent set, high toughness represented by ≥about 8kgf.m/cm 2 Charpy impact value and ≤about 1.02 magnetic permeability. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
