titleOfInvention Metallization for surface of plastic molding
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a metallized plastic molding having face accuracy and good adhesion by a method in which a plastic molding and necessary processing are applied on an aluminum alloy core and then the aluminum alloy core metal is removed by dissolution. n CONSTITUTION: A necessary thickness of a metal layer necessary for electrolytic plating is formed on an aluminum alloy core metal 1 in the order of copper strike plating 2, gold plating 3 and copper plating 4, for example. The surface of the copper plating 4 is subjected to an electrolytic etching to form a complicated uneven surface. A primer 5 is then coated on the whole surface of the uneven surface, dried, and coated with a resin 6 which is in turn hardened. A pre-preg 7 is laminated on the resin layer 6 and hardened. Afterwards, the core metal 1 is removed by dissolution, and the resin molding is subjected to necessary machining and the copper strike plating layer 2 is dissolved and removed, whereupon the gold plating layer 3 with the copper plating 4 as undercoat is provided on the inner surface of the epoxy resin molding reinforced with glass cloth. The metal layer so obtained has good adhesion and excellent face accuracy. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
