titleOfInvention Molding material
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a molding material giving moldings which are excellent in a reinforcing effect, have a smooth surface, hardly suffer cracking and have a high design effect, by incorporating a specified quantity of a high-strength, high- modulus reinforcing fiber having a length of at least two pitches in a thermosetting resin. n CONSTITUTION: In a molding material obtd. by incorporating a high-strength, high-modulus reinforcing fiber, e.g. glass fiber or carbon fiber, in a thermosetting resin, e.g. bisphenol A diglycidyl ether type epoxy resin, in such a proportion as to give a resin content of 20W85wt%, a reinforcing fiber having a length of at least two pitches is incorporated therein pref. one of the average fiber length is 3mm or shorter and the other is 6mm or longer, and the fiber having an average fiber length of 3mm or shorter accounts for 5W50% of the entire fiber content. The reinforcing effect can be enhanced by the long fiber and the mixing of the fiber with the resin can be facilitated by the short fiber, whereby an effect of inhibiting resin shrinkage can be obtd. The molding material can afford a finishing reel in particular, having excellent performance. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
