abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a herbicide, an antifungal agent, and a raw material for them industrially advantageously, by subjecting a specific shiff base and a specified vinylphosphinic ester to Michael addition reaction in the presence of a base. n CONSTITUTION: 1mol compound shown by the formula I (R 1 is 1W5C alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl; absolute configuration of three asymmetric carbons * is S) is reacted with preferably 1W2mol vinylphosphinic ester shown by the formula II(R 2 and R 3 are 1W5C alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl) in the presence of a base (e.g., n-butyl lithium, etc.) (preferably 1W3 equivalent base based on 1 equivalent compound shown by the formulaIII) in a solvent such as usually THF, etc. The reaction product is then hydrolyzed, to give the desired compound shown by the formula III (absolute configuratin of amino acid is L-form). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
