abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R 1 is H, or 1W9C organic residue). n EXAMPLE: β-Hydroxycyclopentyl-6-butyl peroxide. n USE: Industrially useful as an intermediate raw material for glutaraldehyde. Obtainable in high yield. n PREPARATION: Cyclopentene oxide shown by the formula II is reacted with H 2 O 2 or an organic hydroperoxide shown by the formula R 1 COOH in the presence of a catalyst such as H 2 SO 4 , etc. at -20W150°C, to give a compound shown by the formula I . The reaction is preferably carried out in a nonaqueous system to reduce by-products such as 1,2-cyclopentanediol, etc. Consequently, R 1 COOH is preferably dehydrated before the reaction. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
