| abstract |
PURPOSE: To facilitate the reclamation of waste vulcanized rubber without discoloration, by mixing vulcanized rubber particles with iron powder and irradiating the mixture with microwaves. n CONSTITUTION: Vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber (which may contain a filler such as carbon black and adjuvants such as fiber) is ground into particles of a particle diameter ≤1mm. 100pts.wt. said particles are mixed with about 1W 10pts.wt. iron powder of a particle diameter ≤about 50μ, and the mixture is kneaded by means of, for example, rolls. The kneaded mixture is irradiated with microwaves and heated to about 130W180°C to destruct the crosslinked structure of the vulcanized rubber for plasticization, thus obtaining reclaimed rubber. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
