titleOfInvention Agent for lengthening life of cut flowers
abstract PURPOSE: An agent for preserving longer life of cut flowers that is prepared by adding a specific amount of a specific alkali to an aqueous solution containing a specific amount of phytic acid so that the pH of the solution becomes a specific value on use, thus showing very excellent life-lengthening effect by safe and easy operations without any adverse effects on the plant. n CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution containing 0.001W50wt% of phytic acid (myo-inositol hexaphosphoric acid ester) or mixed aqueous solution prepared by adding 0.001W50wt% of phytic acid to an aqueous solution containing 0.1W 75wt% of monosaccharide and/or disaccharide is combined with an alkali selected from alkali metal hydroxides, alkali metal oxides and ammonia so that the pH becomes 3W6.5 on use and the amount of the alkali does not exceed 6 times the amount of the above phytic acid, thus giving the objective preserving agent. The agent solution is diluted on use with city water or distilled water so that the concentration of the phytic acid becomes about 0.001W0.5wt%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
