titleOfInvention Plastic clad glass fiber for optical transmission
abstract PURPOSE:To increase the resistance to hydrocarbon oil and solvents by cladding the surface of a fiber of quartz glass or optical glass as a core with a layer of a specified composition, and curing the layer by heating. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a fiber of quartz glass or optical glass as a core is clad with a layer of a composition prepd. by mixing fluorine modified polysiloxane represented by the general formula [where each of R and R' is a hydrocarbon group having no unsatd. bond, and each of (m) and (n) is a positive integer] with a curing agent by an amount enough to cross-link the polysiloxane, and the layer is cured by heating to obtain a plastic clad glass fiber for optical transmission.
