titleOfInvention | Production of sulfonate group-containing polyester resin |
abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyester resin suitable as a textile paste or the like, at low cost, by reacting an epoxy group-containing compound with an acid sulfite, and employing the produced sulfonate group-containing polyfunctional monomer as a component of the material. CONSTITUTION:A polyfunctional monomer containing both a sulfonate group and a hydroxyl group is produced by reacting an epoxy group-containing compound such as epichlorohydrin or ethylene glcyol monoglycidyl ether with an acid sulfite according to the reaction of the formula, wherein M is an alkali metal. The produced polyfunctional monomer is esterified and then condensed with a polyhydric alcohol, e.g., ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, and a polybasic acid, e.g., terephthalic or malonic acid, in the presence of an esterification catalyst and a condensation catalyst to obtain the purpose sulfonate group-containing polyester resin. |
