titleOfInvention | Novel liquid primary trihydroxy alcohol composition and its production |
abstract | PURPOSE: A novel primary trihydroxy alcohol composition that is obtained by allowing formaldehyde to react with an aldehyde composition resulting from hydroformylation of an olefin such as propylene dimer or n-butene dimer, thus being liquid at room temperature and has high solubility in lipids. n CONSTITUTION: The titled composition is obtained by reaction of formaldehyde, in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide, with an aldehyde resulting from hydroformylation of an olefin of 6W8 carbon atoms, such as propylene dimer or n-butene dimer or n-butene-iso-butene dimer or propylene-butene dimer and/or a mixture thereof with a straight-chain aldehyde in which the content of the straight-chain aldehyde is less than 50wt% and that of aldehydes having at least one of alkyl groups selected from methyl, ethyl, propyl, and isopropyl groups is more than 50wt%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
